Design Brief for 2nd Assessment Task

Digital Brief 1 – Using a DL size in landscape 220mm width x 110mm height at a resolution of 72 pixels/inch. Design a flyer for a Bric a Brac Fair to be held in your local community. You must use at least two or more of the techniques you’ve learnt in the Learning Assignments.

This is as far as I have gotten as I am stuck on what to do for the image.  I am thinking of creating an image using brushes and placing it in the centre.  So hence the blank.  What do you think so far?

Have added some images using some brushes I found on the Internet and made the black background look as if it has been dusted.

So what do you think?

Added some colour as Amelia suggested.  So here is Version 3!!

The Final Three Designs for Weeks 3 & 4

The first one is my own texture created using another texture as a pattern along with sandstone.

This is my water colour effect using textures.  This is one of my own photos taken near Begonia House in Machattie Park, Bathurst NSW.

Finally my photo turned into a painting on canvas!  Again using textures such as canvas.  The photo was taken at Sofala, NSW.

Using Craquelure

The Craquelure Filter simulates the cracking of paint that we see on old paintings like this detail of the Mona Lisa and for this exercise I applied to one of my own photos.  Here I've applied the Craquelure Filter in differing amounts to the highlights, the mid tones and to the shadows of the image.

Creating a Rock Texture

This texture was created using the cloud filter.  Then created a symbol to go over this texture and created a light and used a Gaussian Blur.

Creating a Bokeh Texture

Bokeh is the name given to these out of focus discs of light and these tend to occur in the background of your image especially if you're working with a shallow depth of field, think photography.

We can also create them digitally in Photoshop.  A brush preset was created and then with the aid of textures, and gradient colours, here is the final result:

Version Two

I am liking this version.

Do you like?

Version One of Assessment Task

Design a page that includes suitable typography that highlights and expresses the emotion of the following quotation from Siddharta Gautama (Buddha)

In the end these things matter most:

How well did you love?

How fully did you live?

How deeply did you let go?

Siddharta Gautama

Is this suitable typography (font type)?  Should I use another font?  Any suggestions are welcomed.

The background is my own and an original photo.
