Part of our brief.
Produce:
1. Create a design brief for your chosen event, outline the target audience. Explain what the event is about, its history and the general event details. You must include:
Where - the address and maybe a map;
When - dates and times;
Who - event organiser, include a logo and contacts;
Why - why should people come, provide a reason.
2. Choose three design examples from your chosen designer. Select designs that inspire you. Scrutinise the design principles and write a brief analysis of the works.
3. Make a rough mock-up for your event similar in style, layout, colour and/or typography to your chosen designer's originals. Whilst employing the designer's style, include in your design your specific event details.
4. Create one more final design for your event that has some reference to your chosen designer but is your original work.
5. Write a reflection on your finished piece including a self-assessment about how you thought it worked and how it was influenced or not by the chosen designer.
Rationale
This project will introduce you to how design can be used as a direct tool for communication about a specific event. It will involve researching a renowned designer, using their work as inspiration, and producing a unique, original piece that pays homage to your chosen designer.
Below are my mock ups with the original works of Paula Scher. Followed by my designs and final poster design.
Mock up Number One.
Mock up Number Two.
Next two images are Paula Schers work.
Next two images are mine done very quickly which lead to my final design.
Next is another Paula Scher Public Theatre Poster design.
Next is my design still in its final stages.
Photo was taken at the Royal Bathurst Show, by me and edited in Camera RAW and Photoshop.
